In our industry, home care is supportive services in a person’s house or apartment. The clients’ needs, and requests determine the services. Consider home care for your loved one if he or she is struggling with basic daily living activities or is at risk of social isolation due to living alone.

Services like physical therapy at home, wound care, medication administration or IV therapy are home health care services. These responsibilities are not home care and require a licensed professional, such as a registered nurse or physical therapist, to complete the task.

Here are some examples of home care services:

Companionship

Our companions offer company and conversation to our clients. We offer medication reminders, and we can escort our clients to appointments. This service is excellent for those family caregivers who need respite due to work or those who just need a break.

Homemaking

Cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation are examples of homemaking. We can also answer the client’s phone, assist with managing bills and mail, and take care of pets.

Errands

Our caregivers can complete grocery shopping, general errands, pick up and drop off prescription, and offer transportation.

Payment

There are various ways to pay for home care. Veterans and their spouses have a home care benefit. Long term care insurance is also another option. Low income seniors may qualify for Ohio Medicaid programs. Finally, seniors and their families can private pay.
